Even as parts of Spain experienced an unexpected electricity blackout, innovation never took a pause. From April 28–30, Red Alert Labs was on the ground in Barcelona, represented by our IoT Cybersecurity Consultant Nataël Couturier and Léa Khoury, at the COBALT Horizon Project General Assembly.
This pivotal three-day event brought together key partners of the COBALT initiative to advance the mission of transforming how cybersecurity certification is managed across the European Union. The assembly focused on two core objectives:
- Preparing for the upcoming mid-term project review
- Strengthening collaborative workflows to enable continuous monitoring of cybersecurity certification
What is the COBALT Project?
COBALT—short for Certification for Cybersecurity in EU ICT using Decentralised Digital Twinning—is a Horizon Europe-funded project that aims to reshape the landscape of cybersecurity certification. By leveraging decentralized digital twin technologies, the project seeks to build scalable, interoperable, and efficient frameworks that allow for dynamic and ongoing evaluation of cybersecurity in ICT systems.
In simpler terms, COBALT is about making cybersecurity certification smarter, faster, and better suited for today’s rapidly evolving digital ecosystems. It emphasizes not just one-time checks, but continuous assurance—especially vital in sectors like industrial IoT, where resilience and reliability are paramount.
Red Alert Labs’ Role
As a trusted cybersecurity lab specialized in IoT and product certification, Red Alert Labs plays a vital role in contributing expertise to the technical design and implementation of certification mechanisms within COBALT. Our involvement ensures that the resulting frameworks are not only robust and secure but also aligned with real-world industry requirements and compliance standards.
We are proud to be part of a project that places Europe at the forefront of cybersecurity innovation—where security, scalability, and sustainability are no longer trade-offs, but part of the same equation.
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue our journey with COBALT and work toward a more secure digital future for all.
