On 5–6 February, Red Alert Labs took part in the COBALT Plenary Meeting in Stuttgart, where experts across Europe gathered to accelerate progress on next-generation cybersecurity certification. Representing our team, Ayman Khalil (COO) and Nataël Couturier (IoT Security Evaluator & Quality Manager) contributed to discussions on how to make certification more effective, scalable, and aligned with industry needs.
Why COBALT Matters
The COBALT project plays a central role in shaping Europe’s approach to cybersecurity certification by developing frameworks that increase trust, interoperability, and compliance across digital products and systems. This work is especially crucial as new regulations like the Cyber Resilience Act raise the bar for manufacturers.
Key Outcomes from Stuttgart
🔹 Concrete Action Plans – The consortium agreed on clear next steps to streamline certification processes and strengthen evaluation methods.
🔹 Industry-Driven Insights – Red Alert Labs shared expertise on how certification impacts manufacturers, particularly in the IoT and IIoT sectors, ensuring the project remains closely tied to real-world challenges.
🔹 Collaboration Reinforced – The sessions underlined the need for cooperation between industry, regulators, and certification labs to build trust at scale.
